Inlays / Onlays
When the structure of a tooth is compromised in such a way that does not call for a crown (see pictures left) the tooth can be restored with Inlays or Onlays.
They are an excellent restorative alternative. It usually requires two visits. During the first visit the dentist will remove the caries and prepare the tooth for the inlay and then an impression will be taken and sent to lab to be fabricated by the dental technician. a temporary filling will be in set in place by the dentist until they patient comes back for the second and last visit to deliver the Inlay/Onlay .
Inlays and Onlays are fabricated in the lab of either reinforced composite or porcelain.
With current dental materials, this dental procedures are long lasting and very esthetic and more conservative than other dental treatments
